Just as Dangerous and Just as hard to Get Rid Of

Stephen Miller, Donald Trump's Rasputin, has laid the increase in cases
of coronavirus squarely on the Democrats.  In an article in The Spectator,
Miller wrote, "There is almost assuredly going to be a spike in COVID
cases and it will also almost assuredly be put on red-state governors and
the President holding rallies.  But the Democratic activists and politicians
themselves created this situation."  And  what do we owe that statement
to?  Mr. Miller cites Washington DC Mayor, Muriel Bowser, who extended
the lockdown of the city, while supposedly encouraging the mass street
protests, as one example.  Miller also claims blue-state governors promoted
massive demonstrations, and this will surely cause an increase in the  pandemic
numbers.

So, in answer to the street protests, Trump must now go out and hold larger
rallies to prove he can gather even greater crowds.  I must say that is some
convoluted logic.  Trump tweeted on Monday that the news media was trying
to 'COVID shame us on our big Rallies".  Miller has turned the tables comparing
Trumps campaigning to the Democrats violent protests for racial justice.  His
playground taunts of "you did it first", won't work though.. As early as mid-April,
Trump was encouraging demonstrations by tweeting; 'Liberate Minnesota!
Liberate Michigan!  Liberate Virginia - support your second amendment rights'.
Somehow, equating health restrictions with confiscating guns, beggars belief.
Anything to get the base riled up and out there in their MAGA hats.

Tomorrow Trump is going to hold a rally in Tulsa Oklahoma, his faithful
followers have been lining up for days outside of the BOK Center, a
19,000 seat arena.  Try as they may, Tulsa authorities have tried to dissuade
the Trump organization from holding the rally.  They have tried heading off
trouble  by instituting a curfew beginning last night.  Their efforts may prove
futile I am afraid.  In these charged times, when thousands are still marching
in protest for Black Lives Matter, this rally is a slap in their collective faces.

Not only was the original rally date set for June 19th, or Juneteenth the day set
aside for celebrating the end of slavery in the United States, but it was being held
in Tulsa, the site of a massacre of well-to-do black people in 1921.  The ensuing
outcry did force the Trump campaign to push the day back to June 20th but left
the gathering in Tulsa.  As Oklahoma is big Trump country, it will ensure a large
turn-out for the first Trump rally in three months.

Oklahoma, along with several other states is experiencing a surge of reported
COVID cases.  One of the other states with an increase is Arizona, where the
President is scheduled to go next.  His is to hold a rally next week in Tucson.
Arizona is  pivotal because it's current Senator, Martha Mc Sally, is running well
behind her challenger, Mark Kelly, who is ahead by double digits.

Arizona has a reputation as the 'old west', and the sheriffs there like to think of
themselves as Wyatt Earp at the OK Corral, only with twice the mouth and half
the brains.  All hat, no cattle, as they say.   One particularly sheriff, Mark Lamb,
Sheriff of Pinal County was particularly vociferous.  Because of his stand on the
Arizona Governor's orders to stay at home and to wear masks when venturing out,
Sheriff Lamb called the lockdown unconstitutional.  Sheriff Lamb held rallies of
his own, greeting hundreds of people with hugs and handshakes.  His actions caught
the attention of the White House, here was the perfect example what the president
wished to portray.

Sheriff Lamb was asked to visit with president Trump prior to Trumps visit to Tucson.
Just before Lamb's visit he was tested for COVID, as are all those who come into
contact with the President.  Of Course, he rested positive, you can only tempt the fates
so far before they have their revenge.  Now, all the people who attended Lamb's
rallies must be tested also.  Has that deterred our fearless leader?  Not I the least,
he is also one to tempt the fates, all be it from behind a plexiglass shield.

These, and other events in the planning stage, are geared to engender Trumps base
support.  Trump has no plans to try and garner support among black voters.  The
police reforms he announced from the White House this past week, were meaningless
and toothless.  A show, a crumb tossed to the Black Lives Matter protesters.  Behind
all of this this, the man who has the ear of the president, the man who was the architect
of so many of Trumps bigoted pronouncements, is Stephen Miller, a cold and
uncompromising bigot.  His agenda is white nationalist propaganda, first and foremost.

Miller has been the subject of many a demand for his removal, be he has survived them
all.  A group of twenty-seven Senators sent a letter to the White House saying that Mr.
Miller is motivated by white supremacy and not national security, and he should be fired.
Trump would never think of firing Miller, he is his Rasputin, the one who has his trust,
first, last, and always.  He has taken Trump this far and together they will take on the
Democrats in November, with Miller using all the sleazy campaign tactics in his bag of
tricks.  Together they will ride the 'law and order' train back into the White House. Miller,
like Rasputin, is very difficult to do away with.
